Val has been with EyesOpenIowa since 2021 and has been in sexual health since 2018. She has a bachelor’s degree in Family Services from the University of Northern Iowa and is a trained facilitator in several sexual health and other prevention-based curriculums. Val was selected as a 2022 fellow for New Leaders Council, recognizing her as a changemaker of tomorrow. With extensive experience working as a health educator and within prevention services, she brings valuable insight to each of her trainings. Val also has extensive experience in parent education and services focusing on reproductive health access. Her approach is strength-based, helping learners reach their highest potential.


Her trainings offer easily digestible information, a relaxed atmosphere, and a touch of humor. Outside of work, she enjoys live music, stand-up comedy, and exploring new cities.
